A new and outstanding universal disc player joins the highly acclaimed CX Series
London based audio/video specialists Cambridge are one of very few brands to continue to make serious investment in the Blu-ray format, building on the development of their already outstanding 752BD to create the superb new CXU universal player, a truly hi-end product designed from the outset to offer the highest possible video and audio performance plus exceptional flexbility and connectivity.
Thanks to the inclusion of the latest Mediatek chipset, playback can be described as both lightning fast and truly universal with a variety of different disc formats such as: 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray DVD, CD, SACD, DVD-A, AVCHD and HDCD all reproduced in superb quality – in part due the DARBEE Visual Presence, video processing technology.
Audio reproduction is also exceptional thanks to five separate Wolfson WM8740 D/A converters, ensuring that every audio channel is decoded to the highest possible quality, with Cambridge Audio’s own proprietary ATF audio technology up-sampling all audio to 24-bit/192kHz output to provide the ultimate sound quality from all sources.
The CXU also features class-leading connectivity turning the product from a disc player into a digital media hub. No less than eleven different audio and video sources can be played through the CXU thanks to the inclusion of: two HDMI inputs, two HDMI ARC outputs, three USB inputs and both S/PDIF coaxial and TOSLINK optical digital audio inputs.
Tere’s also a choice of wired Ethernet or wireless network connection via the supplied dongle, plus support for a Mobile High-definition Link (MHL) which can be used to connect a mobile device such as a cell phone or a digital camcorder and play high quality audio and video content back through the CXU universal player.
Whatever the connection or the video or audio source selected, all can be up-sampled or processed by the CXU to ensure the best possible audio or A/V performance.
And while the CXU may offer superb flexibility it also remains very easy to use thanks to the intuitive colour on-screen display and simple, user-friendly controls, plus an ergonomic backlit remote control that can also be used to operate other products from the CX range.
Finally, the CXU also has an optional internal volume control which when enabled allows the analogue outputs (7.1 and 2.0) to become variable and controlled using the CXU remote control, allowing the CXU to be connected directly to a power amplifier or active speakers for a simple and highly versatile system!
The CXU will go on-sale from the end of August, 2015.
