New IsoTek EVO3 Sequel power cable: clean power, clear value

Hailed by reviewers worldwide for breaking new ground at its price point, IsoTek’s entry level EVO3 Premier is a high performance, low-cost power cable that offers a realistic solution for anyone seeking an affordable upgrade over the freebie ‘kettle’ leads supplied with most audio and AV equipment. Now the Premier is joined by the new EVO3 Sequel, an upgraded but still highly affordable power cable offering a number of additional benefits.
The Sequel comes in a standard length of 2m, compared to the Premier’s 1.5m. Like the Premier, it uses silver-plated oxygen-free copper conductors twisted together to aid EMI/RFI rejection, but in the Sequel the conductor geometry is improved with optimised thickness of the individual strands. The Sequel also incorporates more advanced ‘active’ shielding under its PVC outer sheath, similar to that used in IsoTek’s more costly cables.
The EVO3 Sequel is IsoTek’s second-tier power cable, slotting in between the entry level EVO3 Premier and the mid-level EVO3 Elite.
IsoTek EVO3 Sequel: key features
Construction: Three 2.0mm2 optimised-strand conductors for improved electrical conductivity.
Conductors: Silver-plated 6n oxygen-free copper (OFC) copper conductors providing exceptional levels of purity and hence conductivity.
Dielectric (insulation): A high quality Teflon FEP dielectric (insulation) provides a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. FEP possesses an exceptionally high degree of stress crack resistance and a low coefficient of friction making it an exceptional dielectric, and is the first choice for safety in both temperature and electrical insulation.
Filler: A cotton filler gives the cable internal strength, adds mechanical damping and reduces microphony. Cotton also possesses excellent dielectric properties very similar to FEP.
Wrap: A Mylar wrap is used to shield the cable from high frequency radiation and to secure and protect its overall construction.
Copper shield: An active OFC copper shield drains RFI to earth protecting the conductors from common mode noise.
Jacket: A durable, heat-resistant PVC outer jacket gives a high degree of flexibility and mechanical strength.
24-carat gold termination: Termination of the EVO3 Sequel is done by hand using IsoTek’s bespoke audiophile grade 24-carat gold plated connectors.
Available terminated with UK, EU, US and Australian mains plugs and with C7, C15 and C19 IEC connectors, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of audio and AV equipment.
The EVO3 Sequel is provided as standard as a fixed 2-metre cable. It can also be provided on 50-metre spools for custom termination.
