HARMAN’s JBL Synthesis announced the introduction of its SDA-8300 and SDA-4600 multichannel network amplifiers, eight and four-channel models that offer Ethernet networking connectivity, high power output and many additional benefits. The 8-channel SDA-8300 delivers 300W into 8 ohms and the 4-channel SDA-4600 provides 600W into 8 ohms.
“Our new SDA-8300 and SDA-4600 represent the next-generation of JBL Synthesis power amplifiers and offer significantly improved performance along with flexible networking capabilities in a JBL Synthesis custom-installation home theater system,” said Jim Garrett, Director of Marketing and Product Management, HARMAN Luxury Audio. “Adding to their appeal, the new amplifiers sound better, offer exceptional energy efficiency and have space-saving form factors that allow greater placement and installation flexibility.”
The new amplifiers are designed to work hand in hand with other JBL Synthesis electronics. Both models offer networked digital audio and control connectivity to JBL Synthesis surround sound preamplifiers, equalizers and other components via the amplifiers’ primary and secondary Ethernet transport ports. The SDA-8300 and SDA-4600 connect to a JBL Synthesis SDEC-4500 equalizer via an Ethernet cable.
Though powerful, the SDA-8300 and SDA-4600 are compact, measuring just 3.5″ high x 19″ wide x 14.25″ deep, and weigh under 25 lbs. Their high power-to-weight performance is made possible by HARMAN’s proprietary DriveCore Class D, PWM technology that combines the amplifier driver stage into the power output stage along with additional audio-signal functions, yet is about the size of a postage stamp. DriveCore also reduces power consumption and yields much more energy-efficient operation, and enables the design of amplifiers that save space and weight and generate far less heat in an equipment rack.
The JBL Synthesis SDA-8300 and SDA-4600 feature front-panel display and LED indicators that provide ready indication of key functions. In addition to digital audio connectivity and control, the amplifiers’ networking connectivity provides continuous load monitoring and other diagnostics, and both models offer comprehensive DSP capablities such as built-in crossovers, output limiting, input and output EQ and additional feature that enable the amps’ performance to be perfectly tailored to any custom installation and room. The SDA-8300 and SDA-4600 incorporate HARMAN’s exclusive Power Factor Corrected (PFC) universal power supply that is designed to deliver maximum power in any country and their universal AC input accepts voltages from 100 – 240 VAC, 50/60Hz. Both amplifiers feature a black anodized front panel that perfectly matches the styling of other JBL Synthesis components.
The JBL Synthesis SDA-8300 and SDA-4600 Multichannel Network Amplifiers are now shipping.
